“Intruders”, Thuridur Sigurdardottir.
Jan 10. – Feb. 2. 2003
Opening reception will be Friday night Jan 10th, 20.00 – 22.00.
In the beginning of January Galleri Hlemmur will open an exhibition of the works of Thuridur Sigurdardottir. Žura has mainly dealt with paintings lately and she has succeeded in stretching and extracting that media in various unexpected directions. Her last exhibition was Under the stairs of i8 Galleri where she painted a self-portrait on the wall like she was clambering up from the floor.
She has intertwined photographs and paintings and dealt with superrealistic variations of various objects but in the upcoming exhibition in Galleri Hlemmur she will go even further than ever before in her thorough examination and interpretation of the minuscule and delicate.
Žura has harboured the idea of this exhibition for some time but has been waiting for the right moment. The darkest time of the year, after the festivities – when the Christmas lights go out and the dark winter sets in – is likely the most powerful season for those works of hers. They will lay before those who are outside – namely “Intruders.”
The exhibition closes Sunday 2. February.
Galleri Hlemmur is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 14.00 – 18.00.
